Release Day Reflections

Today’s the day.
Between the Waves and the Stars has officially launched into the world, and tonight I’ll be celebrating with friends, family, and readers at the book release party and signing event at Flagship Brewery. I’ve imagined this moment in so many different ways over the years, but nothing quite prepares you for the real thing. It feels surreal.

This book started as a quiet idea, something I came up with sitting in a restaurant in Los Angeles. Now it’s printed, bound, and about to be sitting on tables and ready to be opened by others. That’s wild.
I want to take a moment to reflect on the dedication page, which reads:
To the boy who dreamed and the people who helped him along the way.
That line is for my younger self: the kid who loved stories, who wrote in notebooks, who kept dreaming even when it didn’t always feel possible. And it’s also for every single person who encouraged me, believed in me, or helped me along the way. Many of them will be with me tonight, and I hope they know: this book is for them as much as it is for me. I’m also thinking of the family and friends who are no longer with us, whose love, lessons, and memory helped shape the person I’ve become.
Creating Between the Waves and the Stars has been one of the most vulnerable and rewarding experiences of my life. It’s a story about growing up, about queerness, friendship, love, grief, and finding your place in the world... and now it’s out there.
Thank you to everyone who’s supported me on this journey. I can’t wait to celebrate with you tonight.
